2007-2008 Ice Girls Audition Information
AUDITION DATE: Saturday, June 30, 2007 & Sunday, July 1, 2007
LOCATION: GOLD’S GYM, BAYMEADOWS ROAD Map
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO AUDITIONS?
Please wear 2-piece attire:
Top: Dance/Athletic Bra Top (No tank tops)
Bottom: Hot Shorts- these are short shorts (No Bike Shorts)
Skin colored Dance Tights (non-shimmer)
Any type of dance shoes (for example: jazz, split sole Dance sneakers, tennis shoes etc.)
HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY MAKE-UP?
Think “Stage Make-up”, shades that complement your natural beauty.
HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAIR?
In a current hairstyle that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face. NO ponytails, braids, or up-do’s, your hair must be completely down.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO AUDITIONS?
Drivers license or passport for identification (This is required, no exceptions)
Extra competition attire and tights just in case!
Water bottle
Lunch and snacks (there will be a lunch break for those advancing past the preliminary round)
Personal items -- make-up, curling iron, etc.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO AT AUDITIONS?
Registration will begin promptly at 8:30 am on Saturday, June 30th. The audition process begins immediately following registration. DO NOT BE LATE!
- In the preliminary round candidates will be taught a short sideline routine. Introduction, pirouettes (single or double), a kick line, and free style dance is also required.
- Candidates will perform the above-mentioned skills for the judges in small groups.
- Post Call-backs for the final phase of the audition process.
HOW LONG WILL THE PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS LAST?
Plan on spending the day; length of stay depends upon the number of applicants. You must stay until the end of the audition to see if you are chosen for call-backs. Should your number be posted on the list, you will re-enter the Audition area to learn a dance routine.
*IMPORTANT: EVEN IF YOU FEEL YOU DID NOT DO WELL IN YOUR PRELIMINARY AUDITION, PLEASE CHECK THE LIST -- YOUR NAME JUST MIGHT BE ON IT!!!!
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME IF I MAKE IT TO CALL-BACKS?
The first phase of Call-backs will be held after lunch following the morning's preliminary round. Audition candidates whose numbers are posted will re-enter the audition area for the following process:
- Choreographer(s) will teach a dance routine.
- Candidates will practice the dance combination in small groups.
- We will dismiss for the day and meet the following day (Sunday, July 1st) promptly at 8:30am to check in for the final round of auditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT SUNDAY July 1, 2007
- Check-in promptly at 8:30am with photo ID.
- Warm-up and review the material learned for the final round.
- The final round will begin with small groups performing the choreography learned for the judges.
- Following the dance portion of finals individual interviews with each candidate will be conducted.
- Judges will make their final decisions and numbers will be posted for the 2007-2008 Ice Girls.
- Chosen Finalist will stay for a short meeting with their directors immediately following.
IF I AM NOT SELECTED AS AN ICE GIRL, MAY I CALL THE JACKSONVILLE BARRACUDAS OFFICE TO RECEIVE MY JUDGES COMMENTS?
Yes. You may call the Barracudas office 2 weeks after the audition date for further information regarding your scores.
WHEN DO REHEARSALS BEGIN?
All rehearsals are held during weekday evenings (Tuesday & Thursday) beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. and usually conclude by 10:00 pm. Team members will be given a schedule of rehearsals at the first mandatory meeting held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007.
WHAT TYPE OF COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED IF CHOSEN?
TOTAL COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED!!!!
An Ice Girl’s responsibilities include the following:
- Attendance at all rehearsals (Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30pm - 10:00pm)
- Mandatory community appearances during the season (Paid opportunities also available)
- Required attendance at dance clinics for Junior Ice Girls.
- Attendance at all home games from mid-October through April, including playoff games.
- Obtain a minimum amount of sponsorships for the 2008 calendar.
- Proper and appropriate representation throughout the season in every aspect.
CAN MY FAMILY WATCH AUDITIONS?
No, auditions are closed to the public.
IS BEING AN ICE GIRL A FULL-TIME JOB?
No, all team members must hold a part-time or full-time job, and/or attend college.
DO YOU CONSIDER BEING A MOTHER A FULL TIME JOB?
Yes!
ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?
You should look well proportioned in dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements, however, a lean figure is demanded by our uniform. Throughout the season team members must maintain their physique, scheduled weigh-ins will be held during night practices.
ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?
You must be at least 18 by June 30th, 2007. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Recent ages of Ice Girls have ranged anywhere from 18 to 39.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME AN ICE GIRL?
Our judges will use the following selection criteria:
- Dance Technique
- Poise
- Physique/ Personal Appearance
- Personality and attitude
- Smiles
Interested ladies should complete the enclosed application and return it to the Jacksonville Barracudas office with a $35.00 non-refundable application-processing fee and a non-returnable photograph of yourself. You will not be judged by your picture - it is for identification only.
Please make all checks payable to the Jacksonville Barracudas Hockey Club in the amount of $35.00.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE AUDITIONS MUST BE IN OUR OFFICE BY
TUESDAY, JUNE 26th, NO LATER THAN 5:00PM
**NOTE** LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THE DAY OF AUDITIONS WITH AN ADDITIONAL LATE FEE OF $15 IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR $35 REGISTRATION FEE.
